The mother who opted to go to jail rather than vaccinate her son has now learned of a worse fate than jail: She's lost primary custody of her child. According to wxyz.com, Rebecca Bredow's son was vaccinated while she sat in a jail cell. Additionally, a judge has ruled that the father, James Horne, will now be the primary caretaker of the child.
Bredow spent 7 days in jail for maintaining a position to hold off on vaccines, something she claims that she and Horne mutually agreed to do. However, it appears that somewhere in the process of the custody battle, Horne changed his feelings on the matter and this forced a crossroads for Bredow. She ended up choosing jail over settling to vaccinate her child.
She was released from jail on Monday. A friend of the court referee recommended that she and her ex get equal custody over their son. She has 21 days to appeal the join custody decision.
"I am an educated vaccine-choice mother and I have signed vaccine waivers and have been fully compliant with all state laws for both of my children for every school year," Bredow said before the sentencing hearing last week.
